Hosted by Stanford University’s SCALE InitiativeFamilies In Schools (FIS), and GPSN, this convening will take place at the California Community Foundation in Los Angeles and will bring together a diverse group of regional leaders to explore what the findings of Getting Down to Facts III mean for students, schools, and communities across Los Angeles.

Getting Down to Facts III is the latest in a series of landmark studies from the SCALE Initiative examining California’s education system. The convening will foster community dialogue and shared learning around key issues shaping the future of California education, including education governance, literacy and mathematics achievement, family engagement, adolescent development, and pathways to student success.

The Getting Down to Facts III Los Angeles Convening is designed to build a shared understanding of the research, connect statewide findings to local priorities and challenges, and identify pathways for collaborative action. Together, participants will consider how research can inform policy and practice, strengthen partnerships among schools and communities, and support improved outcomes while advancing opportunities for children and youth across the region.

Following the morning conversation, participants are invited to remain for a focused lunch conversation on high school redesign. This discussion will explore emerging research, innovative models, and opportunities to better prepare students for college, career, and civic life.
