Michal Kurlaender is a Professor of Education Policy at the University of California, Davis. She is also a PACE Faculty Director. Her work focuses on inequalities in access to and success in college, alignment of public K-12 and postsecondary systems of education, and alternative pathways to college and careers. In addition to working with national data, Kurlaender works closelywith administrative data from all three of California’s public higher education sectors–the California State University, the University of California, and the California Community College systems. She is currently PI on a collaborative grant with the California Department of Education (funded by the Institute of Education Sciences) to investigateCalifornia’s college and career readiness standards. She has published in a variety of academic journals and policy venues. She is lead researcher at Wheelhouse: The Center for Community College Leadership and Research at UC Davis, a research affiliate of the Center for the Analysis of Postsecondary Readiness at Teachers College, and a member of the Mindset Scholar Network. Michal Kurlaender received her degree in Education Policy from Harvard University in 2005.
